About Us

South Bucks Down’s Syndrome Group (SBDSG) was registered as a charity in 2003. It was formed by a group of parents who wished to create opportunities for connection and community through running activities, groups and outings for local people with Down’s syndrome, their families and carers.

We are affiliated with the national Down’s Syndrome Association and SBDSG is run by a group of volunteer Trustees, all of whom have a family member with Down’s syndrome or who themselves have the condition. Our aim remains to offer ways for our community to connect and make friends, have fun together, and support one another. Everyone is welcome and you can find out about FREE membership here:

“I first became involved with the local group when my daughter was a few months old. Over the years I have found friendship and support, benefitted from the advice and experience of others and have also had a great deal of fun. The local Down’s syndrome community, brought together by SBDSG, has formed a large and valuable part of our family life. I would encourage anyone, at whatever stage of life, who is seeking to connect with people locally to get in touch so we can welcome you to SBDSG.”

Judy Pantridge – Chair SBDSG

As well as regular groups, we run annual events such as the BBQ at the Annual General Meeting in September, new year parties, and trips. We also occasionally support training for parents or professionals and campaign on matters that affect our community such as therapy services, school transport and healthy eating for adults living in supported accommodation. Our voice is stronger together, and most of all, we want local families, carers and people with Down’s syndrome to know that South Bucks Downs Syndrome Group is here to support them.

“SBDSG welcomes everyone and offers lots of fun activities. We have enjoyed the Chessington Trips and horse riding. The Annual BBQ is brilliant and is a great way to catch up with lots of other families.”

“The SBDSG New Year party gave the kids and young people something very special to look forward to after the Christmas festivities were over; dancing, games & delicious party food for all to enjoy with families and friends. It was a joy to see!”

“Whilst our son has most certainly benefited from the groups run by SBDSG, as his parents we have had the opportunity to meet other parents, share stories and sometimes problems, which has provided us with a strong sense of not being alone on a journey; listening to wise counsel, words with sound advice and contact with useful professionals.

SBDSG is a community and for our family, being part of that continues to support us.”
