Down’s Syndrome Association

A national organisation, committed to improving the quality of life for people who have Down’s syndrome. Promoting their right to be included on a full and equal basis with others.

The DSA website is packed with information and opportunities.

Mencap

Mencap is passionate about changing the world for everyone with a learning disability, through projects, services and campaigns. Their website is full of information and inspiring campaign work.

Scope

Scope offer practical information and emotional support, and campaign relentlessly for a fairer society for people with learning disabilities.

Down Syndrome Education International (DSE)

Through research, information and resources, advice support and training, DSE works to improve early intervention and education for children with Down syndrome around the world.

DSE provides evidence based activities, advice and guidance to improve speech and language, literacy and numeracy skills. This includes the excellent See and Learn speech Apps.

Learn and thrive

Is a new locally based charity that offers amazing FREE specialist educational resources, including video sessions and downloadable resource packs, produced by specialist teachers from inclusively Down. Learn and Thrive supports learners with Down’s syndrome to access specialist support to help them learn and thrive. Using digital tools to empower people with Down’s syndrome to thrive throughout their lives.

North Bucks Down’s Syndrome Group

Our partners in the North of Bucks offering a range of activities for local families to support to connect and support each another.

East Berkshire Down Syndrome Support Group

Offers advice, support and connection to families and carers.

DSO (Down’s Syndrome Oxford)

Supports people with Down’s syndrome and their families in Oxfordshire and offers a range of services, groups, activities and support.

Thomley

Set in a beautiful and safe location in Worminghall, Bucks, Thomley is a magical place for people of all abilities and disabilities. It provides all sorts of indoor and outdoor spaces and activities and promotes inclusion, fun and connection. Day tickets are £12.50 but no one is turned away on ability to pay.

Wheels for all Marlow

The Marlow Wheels for All sessions operate from the Wycombe District Athletics Complex. This offers a flat, safe space to enjoy cycling. They help people enjoy all-ability cycling utilising our fleet of adapted cycles; from trikes, quads, recumbents, hand-cycles and side-by-side tandems. Sessions are just £5 and run on Saturday lunch times. Booking is via the website.

The Theatre Shed

The Theatre Shed works with young people of all abilities, irrespective of background, ability, disability or difficulty, producing excellent, thought provoking, challenging and above all, entertaining theatre. Theatre Shed is based in Chesham and provides workshops during time term for different age groups.

TVAP

Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP) is a charity that offers a unique range of adventurous, therapeutic and educational play activities in a safe, caring and stimulating environment, catering for both children and adults with all types of disability, however mild or profound. They offer opportunities and vital Respite breaks that support the families and carers as well as the special person they care for. 

TVAP is also the usual location for SBDSG’s Annual general meeting and legendary BBQ.

Electric Eels

Electric Eels is a specialist swimming club for children aged 8 and over and adults with Down’s syndrome. It offers swimming and synchro opportunities and runs from Windsor Leisure Centre.

Social Link

Based in High Wycombe, Social Link is a charity providing a range of services for adults with a learning disability or difficulty enabling them to meet new people, make friends, develop independence skills and enjoy stimulating activities.

FACT Bucks

Short for Families and Carers Together in Buckinghamshire, is a group of parents and professionals who meet to discuss real issues that affect children and young people with additional needs and disabilities in Bucks.
