Arty Crafty Hub celebrates with Sunflowers

Sep 6, 2022

The Arty Crafty Hub launched on the 3rd September with the theme “Sunflowers” to celebrate the end of what has been a long , hot and sunny Summer.
Sarah Turner, Group Leader and Teacher inspired the group with huge real sunflowers, Van Gough’s classic painting and other works of art. The group used templates to draw the outline of a vase and different sized sunflowers heads, then let their creative skills loose, as they produced beautiful and unique pictures using a range of paints, pencils, vegetable stamps and sponges. The Art Room at High Crest Academy provided great facilities for the group to meet and everyone was very proud of the work they produced. Thanks go to Alice, Chris and Helen who assisted in running the group.
Sarah said of the first session “It was so rewarding to welcome such an enthusiastic, friendly group and see each participant express their view of the sunflower motif in such colourful and individual ways as they explored different materials. See you all again soon!”

Next month’s session will explore the patterns and colours found in the animal kingdom – think stripes and leopard print, butterfly wings and snake scales.

The Arty Crafty Hub runs on the first Saturday of the month in High Wycombe. If you are a member of SBDSG, aged 14 or over and would like to join, please contact us.
